Reflexology

Reflexology

Reflexology is a method for activating the healing powers of the body. It is both old and new.  From ancient texts, illustrations, and artefacts, we know that the early Chinese, Japanese,  Indians, Russians, and Egyptians worked on the feet to promote good health. Today many of  these same techniques have been developed into a modern science method called Reflexology. What joins the ancients with the moderns is the long-established principle that  there are energy zones that run through the body and reflex areas in the feet that  correspond to all the major organs, glands, and body parts.

Modern Reflexology is both a science and an art. As a science, it requires careful study,  faithful practise, a sound knowledge of the techniques, and skill. And yet as one of the  healing arts, Reflexology yields the best results when the Reflexologist works with  dedication, patience, focused intention, intuition, and above all, loving care.

We all live with stress in our day to day lives, and we often end up in the cycle of fight or  flight which can be so detrimental to our health. We end up surviving more than thriving.

Stress becomes a problem when we fail to manage it well, especially the stress that results  from problems, frustrations, overwork, and worry. We become more susceptible to illness  and disease.

Reflexology reduces stress by generating deep, tranquil relaxation. Reflexology allows the  body and mind to balance itself and allows healing energy to flow smoothly and gently  throughout.

The Reflexologist stimulates more than 7,000 nerves when touching the feet, and  encourages the opening and clearing of neural pathways, which may have become impeded  and blocked.

  • Reflexology reduces stress and induces deep relaxation.
  • It improves circulation.
  • Reflexology cleanses the body of toxins and impurities.
  • Reflexology balances the whole system.
  • Reflexology revitalises energy.
  • Reflexology is preventative health care.
  • Reflexology stimulates creativity and productivity.
  • Reflexology nurtures relationships.
  • Reflexology is very rewarding for the practitioner, and I often find it very relaxing and grounding.
  • It is amazingly powerful and often clients will fall asleep during a session and wake  up feeling refreshed or as though they have been asleep for a long time.
  • Often the client will feel sensations throughout the body which are generally very  relaxing and restorative.

The HANDS can be worked on instead of the feet, if the client does not like having their feet  touched.

I often include aromatherapy in the Reflexology treatment, depending on the therapeutic  needs of the client.

The session lasts approximately 1 hour, though the initial session requires a thorough  consultation so will be longer. For some medical issues Reflexology is not appropriate and a  different healing treatment may be recommended instead.

After care advice is given after the session for you to take home with you.
